Tamil Nadu RTOs Stop Registering Yamaha, Hero And TVS Two-Wheelers
Tamil Nadu RTOs have stopped registering two-wheelers manufactured by Yamaha, Hero and TVS. As per reports the RTOs are seeking more clarity on the new BS-IV regulations.
Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across Tamil Nadu have stopped the registration of two-wheelers manufactured by Yamaha, Hero and TVS from April 17, 2017.
The temporary suspension of registration is not only applicable to BS-III vehicles but also to the BS-IV compliant two-wheelers. RTOs have not given a specific reason to the dealers. As per reports, the RTOs are seeking more clarity on the BS-III and BS-IV two-wheelers.
The RTOs have not been provided with the documentation for the new regulations and procedures to differentiate the BS-III and BS-IV vehicles.
Supreme Court had ordered to stop the registration of BS-III vehicles from April 1, 2017. But RTOs continued registering both BS-III (registered before April 1, 2017) and BS-IV vehicles. But without any intimation, RTOs stopped the registration of two-wheelers from the manufacturers mentioned above.
Yamaha Motor India has stated that the company has approached the Transport Commissioner and the required information and clarity were provide to the RTOs. Bajaj and Honda have avoided this problem by submitting clear documentations.
But RTOs in Coimbatore and Madurai has stopped the registration of all motorcycles and scooters including Bajaj and Honda two-wheelers. Sources state that not even a single two-wheeler from Yamaha, TVS and Hero has been registered in Chennai.
Vice President Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India, Roy Kurian said, "RTOs wanted some clarity and we have provided them with all the information and assurances. The registration should begin in a day or two."
