Suzuki GSX1100SD Katana Race Bike By Team Classic Suzuki — Track Fighter!
Built by the factory-assisted Team Classic Suzuki racing outfit, the Katana race bike will be competing in this year’s Endurance Legends race at Donington Park.
Like many things in the 1980s, the Suzuki GSX1100SD Katana is just plain looking by today's standards. And it's old enough to be considered a true classic, rather than an outdated design.
This Katana belongs to Team Classic Suzuki-an individual factory race team, supported by Suzuki Japan themselves. This factory assisted team have worked hard to make this particular Katana a track fighter.
The exterior alone is stunning and iconic look along with Suzuki's classic racing livery. The blend of multiple blues, white and black parts surrounding the 1,170cc engine looks fast at stand still.
The team has equipped the Katana race machine with K-Tech front forks and twin suspensions at the rear; this race machine can seemingly go through corners like nobody's business.
The wheels manufactured for racing were sourced from Dymag. Manufactured in the UK and made out of magnesium and fitted with Continental race tyres.
As for the 1,100cc powertrain, which has been extensively worked by the team, has been rebored to 1,170cc. With the bigger capacity, the unit has received other performance updates such as high cam lifts, stainless steel valves, among others sourced from Suzuki themselves.
The team has employed CR racing carburettors for maximum high-performance efficiency. The rear end has been fitted with a custom-made swingarm to increase stability and overall functions.
The Katana race bike will be competing in this year's Endurance Legends race at Donington Park. The race machine will be piloted by veterans James Whitham, Steve Parrish, and Michael Neeves.
To catch Team Classic Suzuki's Katana in action, the endurance race will be on the May 6 & 7, 2017 at Donington Park.
