Royal Enfield Prices Post GST
Royal Enfield motorcycle prices have been changed as per the new GST slabs.
The Government of India will implement the new goods and services tax (GST) from July 1, 2017, and has listed the tax slabs of two-wheelers.
The GST on motorcycles with engine capacity less than 350cc will attract 28 percent and bikes with engine capacity of 350cc and above will attract an additional cess of 3 percent.
Royal Enfield has welcomed the new tax structure and believes that GST will ease the overall functioning of business in many sectors including automobiles.
The company stated, "Royal Enfield welcomes the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reform initiative by the Government of India. We believe that GST will transform the way business is done in India thus benefitting the economy and our customers."
As for the Royal Enfield prices across its product portfolio, the company said, "Royal Enfield is preemptively extending the GST benefits to its customers and is ready to implement the on-road price revision on purchases beginning 17th June 2017 on products where applicable. We are committed to delivering customer satisfaction and giving authentic, pure motorcycling experience to our community and customers."
However, the product lineup of RE includes motorcycles above 350cc such as the Classic 500, Standard 500, Thunderbird 500, Continental GT and the Himalayan. These will attract an additional cess, thereby increasing the prices of the motorcycles.
As per Royal Enfield dealers, the price increase of bikes will range between Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000 depending models and colour options.
While RE is yet to confirm the prices of its motorcycles above 350cc, prices will indeed increase based on the new GST slabs. There might be a marginal decrease in prices of RE bikes less than 350cc, and this could benefit prospective buyers.
