Royal Enfield Himalayan Deliveries Stopped; FI Version Spotted Testing
With the FI Royal Enfield Himalayan yet to be launched in India, the Himalayan is not available for delivery.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is arguably India's first adventure tourer motorcycle and was launched with the carburettor and not with the fuel injection (FI) system.
With India implementing the BS-IV emission norms from April 1, 2017, two-wheeler manufacturers upgraded their products and subsequently launched the BS-4 variants in India. However, as per sources at the Royal Enfield dealerships, there is no stock of the Himalayan for deliveries.
The reason behind the non-availability of the Himalayan is that the deliveries of the FI version of the motorcycle are yet to begin. There is no official confirmation from the motorcycle manufacturer about the availability of the Himalayan despite listing the motorcycle with FI specifications on their official website.
One of DriveSpark's reader has spotted the Himalayan FI version testing at the Niligiris in Tamil Nadu suggesting that the company is testing the bike for high-altitude compatibility.
There have been several media reports that the RE Himalayan has been receiving negative feedback from customers citing several issues. The testing of the FI Himalayan could also mean that RE wants to remove all issues before the adventure tourer is once again available on the market.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Royal Enfield needs to remove all problems related to the Himalayan before they introduce the FI version. While the Royal Enfield Classic 350 continues to be the favourite model with negligible issues, the iconic bike maker should make strides in the quality aspects of other products.
