The Himalayan received a fuel injection system and ABS in the UK. With BS4 regulations set to hit Indiain April, DriveSpark expected the same upgrades to be carried forward in India as well, however; our sources stated that unlike the UK model ABS is still not yet confirmed for the new India-spec Himalayan.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is also setto get an updated clutch assembly along with a more refined engine.
Bookings are open, but not specifically for the new Royal Himalayan model.
With the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 set for an April Launch in India, the BS3 model is being phased out by the motorcycle manufacturer.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan was a much-anticipated model in the Indian market, and the motorcycle was launched in 2016. The Himalayan faced a lot of criticism before its official launch and after the launch too, as the Himalayan was recalled immediately to fix mechanical issues.
The journey was not exactly smooth, but the Himalayan did make up a decent percentage of sales for Royal Enfield. And with the introduction of the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 model in India, the journey is expected to be better.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 will be offered In India with a more refined version of the 411cc, single-cylinder oil and air-cooled engine that makes 24.5bhp and 32Nm of torque which is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
For riders who have planned trips to the Himalayas this year and are looking to buy a new Himalayan, we would strongly recommend that they wait and opt for the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 when it launches in India in April.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The new Royal Enfield Himalayan could prove to be the motorcycle that everyone expected to come to India last year. However, what would really make the new bike become a cult hero is if the 2017 Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 modelgets ABS.
While the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS4 variant is yet to launch in India, KTM has already launched the BS4 variant of the 390 Duke, pictured in the image gallery below.
