Royal Enfield Bullet 500 With Fuel Injection Listed On Official Website
The Royal Enfield is expected to start selling the Bullet 500 with fuel injection (FI) by the end of May 2017, and the new Bullet 500 boasts an increased power by 1.1bhp
Royal Enfield has updated its official website endorsing the fuel-injected Bullet 500 for India. The Bullet 500 with fuel injection is already on sale in the UK and the US.
The new fuel-injected Bullet 500 will meet the Bharat Stage 4 (BS 4) emission regulations, and deliveries are expected soon. Royal Enfield has moved its entire portfolio of bikes to BS 4 in keeping with the deadline of April 1, 2017.
Apart from the Bullet 500, Royal Enfield has updated the Himalayan with fuel injection. The Bullet 500 now gets a BS4 compliant, fuel injected engine which develops higher power. The motorcycle also gets the mandatory AHO (Auto Headlamp On) feature.
With the introduction of fuel injection, the Bullet 500's 499cc, single cylinder, air-cooled unit now produces 27.2bhp, while the maximum torque is 41.3Nm. This marks a 1.1bhp increase in power, while torque has been slightly increased by 0.4Nm.
While the updated Bullet 500 misses out on ABS, the wheelbase of the 2017 model has seen a minor upgrade - at 1360 mm it is 10 mm lesser than the previous model. The 2017 Bullet 500 is also 20 mm wider and heavier by a kilogramme.
Globally, the models already come equipped with ABS and a rear disc brake; however, India-spec models continue to be fitted with the 153mm rear drum and missing out on the ABS feature.
The remaining specifications remain the same to the outgoing model, such as the 35mm front forks with 130mm travel, twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear with 80mm travel. The braking is taken care by the 280mm front disc brake and a 13.5-litre fuel tank. The colour schemes remain the same with Marsh Grey, Forest Green and Black.
Prices are yet to be revealed by Royal Enfield, and the company is expected to launch the motorcycle by the end of May 2017.
