Royal Enfield 350 Overtakes Bajaj Pulsar In January Sales
Royal Enfield sold 39,391 units of Classic 350 in January against 27,362 units in January 2016 to register a growth of 43.96 percent.
Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer Royal Enfield has sold around 3,000 units of Classic 350 more than the Bajaj Pulsar in the month of January. Royal Enfield managed to sell 39,391 units of Classic 350, while the Pulsar recorded 36,456 sales.
Apart from registering sales growth every month, the Classic 350 has now become the fifth best selling motorcycle in the country for January. According to ARAI data, the Royal Enfield motorcycle has surpassed the sales of Hero Glamour, Bajaj Pulsar, and Honda Dream and Unicorn.
As mentioned above, Royal Enfield sold 39,391 units of Classic 350 in January against 27,362 units in January 2016 to register a growth of 43.96 percent. The company operated in the niche market, which appeals to some customers from urban areas, who were not affected much by demonetisation.
Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have sealed the top four places. Hero Splendor continues to dominate in the top spot with sales of 2,08,512 units. The Hero HF Deluxe is in the second place with 1,22,202 units followed by Honda CB Shine with 70,294 sales. Hero Passion is the fourth best selling motorcycle of January with 56,335 units.
Hero Glamour secured sixth place with 38,204 unit sales followed by Bajaj Pulsar range with 36,456 units sales. When compared to the year-ago period, Bajaj Pulsar range's total sales are less.
Completing the top 10 list for January are Bajaj Platina, Honda Dream series and Unicorn. Platina's sales stood at 23,963 units, while Dream series sales were at 18,794 and Unicorn's sales were at 18,654 units.
Abdul Majeed, Partner, PwC, said, "It is a tough time for mass motorcycle manufacturers because at one end the demand is badly impacted because of demonetisation and at another end the supply is affected due to upcoming emission norms making it tight for the mass two wheeler manufacturers."
