Riding In Front Of So Many Fans Was A Gift — Valentino Rossi
Valentino Rossi suffered a crash prior to the Italian GP. But he still managed to finish in fourth position.
Yamaha factory rider Valentino Rossi suffered a crash when he was training before his home race, the Italian GP.
It was doubtful whether Rossi would be able to race at the Mugello circuit. The Doctor put up an incredible show on his home turf to finish the race in the fourth position.
Rossi qualified in an impressive second position and took the lead at the beginning of the race. He pushed hard for the victory and later for the podium position. But the crash barred him from pushing any further and finished in fourth place.
But the fourth place itself was an impressive result for the Italian as his physical condition was not good. Now he gets few more days of time to recover fully ahead of the next race, the Catalan GP.
After the race, Rossi said, "I knew that today‘s race would be more difficult than usual for me. While on the bike I rode well and I didn't have pain, but I was struggling a bit and I knew that 23 laps would be long and hard."
He added, "At the end I tried to stay close to the riders in front, but I did not have the power to attack Danilo. I would have liked a lot to be on the podium today, but there was nothing I could do."
Rossi also said that he was a bit disappointed for not being in the podium position in the Mugello circuit. He said that riding in front of so many fans was a gift and now he has a few days of time to recover for the next race.
