Italian legend Valentino Rossi ended the day in 5th position and was only 0.221s behind his team-mate Vinales. Rossi put in 62 laps and also tested the 'concealed winglets' yet again on day 3.

Aspar Ducati rider Alvaro Bautista yet again impressed everyone on a GP16 and ended the session in the sixth position by posting a lap time of 1m59.628s after 64 laps. The top independent rider was followed by day 1 pacesetter Casey Stoner, who did a 1m59.639s.

Day 2's pacesetter Andrea Iannone was 11th fastest as he fell a couple time on the final day. Iannone lost the front of his Suzuki at Turn 1, then later at Turn 15. Other riders who also fell include Pol Espargaro, Hector Barbera and Aleix Espargaro.

Iannone's team-mate and rookie Alex Rins was 12th fastest for the day followed by Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro and Pramac Ducati's Danilo Petrucci in 13th and 14th place respectively.

The next stop for the MotoGP circus is at Phillip Island in Australia for the second Official Test of 2017. After the Australian test, riders and teams will get one more chance to fine tune the race bikes before the season opener at Qatar.
