Japanese Rider Pulls Off A World Record Wheelie — This Will Take Some Beating
Masaru Abe has managed to enter his name in the record books by setting the longest wheelie record.
Wheelies are fascinating to watch as a rider masters the motorcycle with one wheel on the ground. A bloke from Japan managed to take things further, rather higher as he holds the record for the longest wheelie.
Masaru Abe from Japan managed to hold the front wheel in the air for 500km, on a scooter, setting a new record and breaking the previous record of 330km, which lasted 25 years. The new record was achieved in a scooter, a Yamaha Jog.
Abe set the record at the Kawaguchi Auto Race facility in Saitama, Japan, on the first of May. So how did the scooter manage to take on something like this one may ask?
Well, the scooter was stock, apart from a couple of minor changes. To keep the scooter up on one wheel and still trying to get fuel into the engine was a task. So his support team came up with an idea.
Abe's support team would ride alongside the rider and hand him a refuelling unit, that mounts on the handlebar with the help of a quick-release mechanism.
