KTM 390 Duke Price Increases After GST
Prices of KTM 390 Duke in India see an increase post implementation of GST.
The introduction of the Goods and Service Tax (GST) system has quite a few changes to prices of motorcycles in the Indian market. Motorcycles with engine capacity of lesser than 350cc received a reduction of 2 percent in taxes, whereas those powered by an engine with a capacity of more than 350cc see an increase of 1 percent.
It was obvious that KTM would increase prices of the 390 Duke as it was powered by a 373.2 cc engine. But KTM surprised enthusiasts by increasing the price of the motorcycle just by a few hundreds of rupees, Rs 628 to be exact. KTM seems to have avoided increasing the price of the 390 Duke by a lot, as it was already priced at a premium, and KTM might not have wanted to lose sales even by a small margin.
The 2017 KTM 390 Duke was launched earlier this year at a price of Rs 2,25,730, ex-showroom, Delhi, and now, post implementation, it costs Rs 2,26,358. A price that customers really would not mind paying for the motorcycle. KTM has, on the other hand, increased prices of all its other motorcycles by up to Rs 5,797.
KTM 390 Duke GST Price Breakdown
Model | Pre-GST Price | Post-GST Price | Price Difference |
KTM 390 Duke | Rs 2,25,730 | Rs 2,26,358 | Rs 628 |
The KTM 390 Duke is powered by a liquid-cooled, 373.2cc single cylinder engine with a power output of 43bhp and torque output of 37Nm. It is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and can achieve a top speed of nearly 170 km/h.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The 2017 KTM 390 Duke is a great motorcycle, and KTM has priced it very aggressively indeed, considering the kind of performance and equipment it offers. Even after implementation of GST, we are glad KTM still chose to keep prices of the 390 Duke at almost the same level, as it just might result in increased sales for KTM and increased smiles for its riders.
