Hero MotoCorp Working On Zero Emission Vehicles – Report
India's leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is reportedly working on electric vehicles.
India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is planning to launch BS-VI models before the deadline of April 2020.
Business Standard reports that Hero MotoCorp is also working on the future mobility solutions such as electric vehicles.
Previously, in 2016, Hero MotoCorp has announced that it had invested Rs 205 crore in the Bangalore-based company Ather Energy. Apart from that, the firm is also working on in-house developed zero emission vehicles.
In the 2014 and 2016 Auto Expo, Hero MotoCorp showcased an electric scooter, the Duet-E. The electric iteration of the Duet was equipped with a 5kWh brushless DC motor. Hero's R&D team developed the electric scooter.
Hero also showcased the Leap, which is said to be the India’s first electric-hybrid scooter. The scooter draws power from a 124cc petrol engine and 8kWh electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. Hero MotoCorp is also looking to expand its global reach to 50 countries by 2020.
