India's First Electric Superbike Set To Hit The Streets — Will It Cure Your Need For Speed?
Emflux's electric sports bike can sprint from 0-100 km/h is 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 170km/h and a range of 200km.
A Bengaluru-based technological start-up, Emflux Motors is designing and developing India's first electric sports bike.
(UPDATE: The Emflux One electric superbike was launched at Auto Expo 2018. For more details about the Emflux One including the price click here.)
Emflux's electric sports bike can sprint from 0-100 km/h is 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 170km/h. The bike can be charged up to 80 percent in just 36 minutes from a DC fast charger.
Emflux was founded by Mittal, an IIT Delhi alumnus, and Ankit Khatry, a graduate of Indus Business Academy. They are looking to develop the prototype in time for the 2018 Auto Expo in India.
The company is building the whole drivetrain technology and all the essential components in house including motor and motor controller (Mosfet-based technology), battery pack and battery management system.
Also, they will build in-house a charger circuit, electric vehicle supply equipment, chassis, swingarm, suspension, and transmission in addition to styling including body panels and lighting.
The first model (currently called Model 1) will be a limited edition sports bike with just 200 units to be manufactured at an expected price of around Rs 5 lakh.
The prototype Model 1 will be a full faired sportbike, and the company plans to make a second bike, Model 2, which will be a less-expensive electric motorcycle in the naked bike category, but with similar performance specs as the Model 1.
The second bike will come in two versions - one with 150 km range and the other with 220 km range. Additionally, there will be a Model 3, a power cruiser with better specifications than Model 1 regarding range and power.
Along with the charging plug installed at the owner's premises, Emflux intends to establish different charging points across cities in the country.
With electric automobiles slowly emerging as an alternative transport mode, companies not just in India, but around the world are developing electric vehicles in both two-wheelers and four-wheelers categories.
Emflux Motors has chosen to build and develop premium bikes with performance as their priority.
