Ducati MotoGP Team Unveils The 2017 Livery; Finally Lorenzo Speaks
The Borgo Panigale factory has changed the livery of the GP17 and both the riders will ride with this livery during the Sepang test from January 30 to February 1.
Ducati has unveiled its new Desmosedici GP17 MotoGP racer during official launch at its headquarters in Bologna. This is the motorcycle which will be ridden by three-time MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo and team-mate Andrea Dovizioso for the 2017 MotoGP season.
The Borgo Panigale factory has changed the livery of the GP17 and both the riders will ride with this livery during the Sepang test from January 30 to February 1. For the test, the full-time riders will be joined by test rider and two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner, along with fellow test rider Michele Pirro.
Jorge Lorenzo along with Andrea Dovizioso will try to fight for the title this year. Ducati has only got one premier class title with Casey Stoner back in 2007. The new race machine will be the first since 2014 not to feature aerodynamic winglets which are now banned from the class.
After nine seasons with Yamaha, Lorenzo was looking for some new challenges and went on to sign with the Italian team. With Yamaha, the Spaniard won 44 races and claimed three world titles along with several circuit records.
Lorenzo got his first opportunity to test the Ducati machinery last November in post-race testing at Valencia. During the two-day test, he was third and eighth fastest respectively.
Lorenzo after having his first taste of the Italian machinery said, "For me, it was a bit of a shock. But the truth is it was a big, major, positive change.
"The stability of this bike is incredible. The rideability is absolutely unparalleled. It's so powerful, it looks like a nervous bike, but it's not. It's easy to keep control both on the straights and also in the corners. It's an incredible surprise."
