Ducati 1299 Superleggera Launched In India At Rs 1.12 Crore; Features Explained
Ducati’s exclusive super lightweight 1299 Superleggera hits the Indian market and comes with a jaw-dropping price tag.
Italian exotic superbike manufacturer Ducati has launched its most exclusive one-off creation, the Panigale 1299 Superleggera in India. The motorcycle can be yours if you are willing to pay a whopping amount of Rs 1.12 crore.
The term ‘Superleggera' in Italian means ‘Super Light'. The dream model for the Desmo collectors was unveiled at the 2016 EICMA show. The 1299 Superleggera is the most powerful and lightest factory Panigale ever built, weighing a mere 167kg wet weight.
The 1299 Superleggera is a super exclusive model designed and manufactured to take motorcycling to a whole new level. Only 500 examples of this engineering beauty will leave the Italian factory floor.
Powered by a 1285cc Superquadro engine that delivers 215bhp at 11,000rpm and 147Nm of torque at 9,000rpm is enough to make it the most powerful factory twin ever produced. It is also the first-ever factory motorcycle to be equipped with a carbon fibre frame, subframe, swingarm and wheels.
The most interesting fact about the 1299 Superleggera is that it was designed with MotoGP electronics, including Ducati's own Ducati Power Launch (DLP). The DLP has three level adjustments and it works with Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Traction Control (DTC), providing a perfect launch for track enthusiasts.
The 1299 Superleggera sports multi-adjustable 43mm Ohlins FL936 forks up front and a multi-adjustable Ohlins TTX36 monoshock with a titanium spring at the rear. These are the best Ohlins suspensions ever to be fitted on a production motorcycle.
The braking duties are handled by the best from Brembo. Up front, the model is equipped with Brembo M50 calipers biting on two 330mm Brembo discs and out back, a single 245mm disc coupled with a two-piston Brembo caliper.
Like compatriot MV Agusta F4 RC, the 1299 Superleggera is also offered with a race kit which includes an Akrapovic racing exhaust, racing stands, number plate-holder removal kit, bike cover, racing windscreen, side-stand removal kit and mirror replacement plugs.
