BMW R1200GS Recall Urges Indian Dealers To Call Bikes For Inspection
BMW Motorrad dealers in India start inspecting the R1200GS models for faulty suspension after recall was announced.
BMW Motorrad called it a 'Service Campaign', but in truth is much more than that. The popular BMW R1200GS motorcycles have now been recalled globally, which has urged dealers in India to call for the motorcycles for inspection.
The BMW GS models manufactured between November 2013 and June 2017 are being recalled globally for defective front suspension. The trouble is with the stanchion or called the inner fork tube, that gradually develops a gap between the tube and the top seal plugs.
The gap could result in the whole fork tube coming clean off, thus resulting in an accident due to lack of handling. There have been reports already and even cases of serious injuries.
Reports suggest that almost 1.5 lakh GS models, including the top-of-the-line Adventure variants, are affected globally. India is a crucial market for BMW as the brand has just set foot in the country.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The BMW R1200GS is the German brand's flagship adventure model globally, and in India, both variants of the motorcycle (R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure) make up for majority sales. So if you do own one, please get them checked at your nearest dealership at the earliest.
