Benelli 302R Launch Details Revealed — Are You Ready For The Tornado?
The Benelli 302R motorcycle is expected with a price tag of Rs 3.2-3.5 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Benelli's faired sports bike, the 302R also known as the Tornado 302 is scheduled to be launched in India by April 2017.
Benelli first showcased the bike at the 2015 ECMA followed by its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Show held in Delhi. The Benelli 302R is not just a faired version of the naked TNT 300, but there is a lot more to it.
The Benelli 302R faired sports bike is built on an all-new trellis frame along with a cover around the swingarm pivot. This has helped the engine be an integral part of the structure.
Also, the new frame has made the 302R lighter than the TNT 300 by 16kg with a 50:50 weight distribution. The bike comes equipped with 41mm upside down front suspension, while on the steel swingarm is a lateral shock absorber with adjustable preload.
The sports bike comes fitted with twin 260mm floating discs with a 4-piston calliper up front and a single 240mm disc onthe rear with a single piston calliper brake. We expect Benelli to offer ABS as a standard fitment on the 302R.
The motorcycle also comes with 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels with Metzler tyres.
As for the powertrain, the Benelli 302R is powered by a 300cc liquid-cooled parallel twin that produces 35bhp and 27Nm of torque. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox, and with a new map, the bike now redlines at 12,000rpm compared to 11,500rpm on the TNT 300.
The 302R is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 3.2-3.5 lakh ex-showroom(Delhi) when launched in India.
