Bajaj Pulsar AS200 Discontinued — Reason Revealed
Bajaj Auto has confirmed that it has discontinued the Pulsar Adventure Sport 200 to make way for the newly launched 2017 Pulsar 200NS.
Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has updated its entire Pulsar lineup in the country. Apart from that, the much awaited 200NS was also relaunched in India on February 6, 2017.
But with the re-introduction of the Pulsar 200NS, Bajaj Auto has confirmed that the Pulsar AS200 has been discontinued from the Indian market. The motorcycle was launched in India in April 2015, branded as an Adventure Sport tourer.
But sadly the Adventure Sport tag itself backfired on the motorcycle, as the AS200 lacked key features of a typical touring motorcycle. So, the motorcycle did not perform well in the market.
The Pulsar AS200 was based on the 200NS, and except for the new quarter fairing, everything else on the motorcycle was identical to the 200NS, which was also a downside for the motorcycle.
Now, Bajaj Auto has officially stated that the AS200 has been discontinued, making way for the newly launched 2017 Pulsar 200NS. The new naked street fighter is identical to its previous model.
But the 2017 model gets a new BS-IV compliant engine and few other cosmetic updates such as new dual-tone paint scheme, new ‘200' decal on the tank shroud and underbelly engine cowl.
The 2017 Pulsar 200NS is priced at Rs 96,453 ex-showroom (Delhi). The new model is offered in three new exciting colours - graphite black, mirage white and wild red. But the motorcycle misses out on the features such as fuel injection system and ABS.
