Afriquia Merzouga Rally: Hero MotoSports Leads Sherco TVS After Stage 1
The 2017 iteration of the Afriquia Merzouga Rally has kicked off and Hero MotoSports leads Sherco TVS after the end of first stage.
The 2017 edition of the Afriquia Merzouga Rally kicked off with the 2km Prologue. Hero MotoSports rider Joaquim Rodrigues won the Prologue.
The first stage of the rally was an 84km test, with 41km of timed distance. Rodrigues maintained a steady pace to finish fifth after day one. The Portuguese rider stayed focussed and out of trouble to end the day one on a strong note.
Indian ace rally rider CS Santosh made a cautious and steady start by finishing the first stage in 16th position. Making his comeback after two months, Santosh took it easy on the first stage of the rally.
Sherco TVS rider Joan Pedrero made a good start to the rally and finished in seventh place at the end of day one. French rider Adrien Metge managed to finish in 11th overall after the end of first stage.
Indian rider Aravind KP finished the first stage in 21th and is in 20th position in the overall results. Third Indian rider of the rally, Abdul Wahid Tanveer finished in 84th place in his international debut.
The stage 2 of the Afriquia Merzouga Rally will see the riders tackling the 188km timed distance on the dunes of Morocco. Stay tuned to DriveSpark for all the updates on the 2017 Merzouga Rally.
