Dakar 2017: CS Santosh Finishes The Toughest Rally
The 2017 Dakar Rally has concluded and Indian rider CS Santosh has finished the toughest rally on the planet in 47th position.
Dakar 2017 finally reached its climax in the capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires. Riders and drivers endured the 9,000km rally and finally arrived at the finish ramp at the Automobile Club of Argentina to pop the champagne.
Hero Motosports Team Rally made history by achieving 100 percent result in its maiden Dakar Rally. Indian rider CS Santosh made good progress in the last two stages of the rally and finished the toughest rally on the planet in a highly credible 47th position.
Santosh's teammate Joaquim Rodrigues had an impressive maiden Dakar Rally. He finished as high as 10th in his first Dakar rally. The Indian manufacturer had an impressive Dakar Rally with both the riders finishing the rally.
KTM rider Sam Sunderland claimed his first Dakar Rally victory in the motorcycle category. He was the first Briton to win in any class of the iconic event. Matthias Walkner finished second and Spanish rider Gerard Farres completed the podium finishers.
In the quads category, Russian rider Sergey Karyakin took his first Dakar Rally win riding a Yamaha quad. Ignacio Casale finished the rally in the second position and Argentina rider Pablo Copetti rounded off the top three finishers.
In the cars category, Peugeot driver Stephane Peterhansel won the rally by a narrow margin. Nicknamed as ‘Mr.Dakar' he won his seventh Dakar Rally with six titles under his belt in the motorcycle class. Sebastien Loeb pushed hard for the victory but had to settle for second.
Peugeot locked the top three spots with Cyril Despres finishing the rally in the third position. With this victory, Peugeot achieved back to back Dakar Rally victories.
In the trucks category, Russian driver Eduard Nikolaev won his second Dakar Rally title driving a Kamaz truck. He won his first Dakar Rally in 2013. Dmitry Sotnikov finished the rally in the second position and Dutch driver Gerard de Rooy rounded off the top three finishers.
