Yamaha has confirmed that their YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 middleweight sportbike will be updated for 2017. This will be the second generation models of both motorcycles. Now, reports suggest that engineers could provide 2017 YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 with a chassis update.
Currently, YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 utilises a diamond chassis, which dulls the handling a bit. Yamaha now will be taking from older R series model for the chassis update. The YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 are most likely to receive an all-new Deltabox frame, which will be its biggest change.
The R125, R15, R6, and even R1 models from Yamaha features Deltabox frames. Only the YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 models are not equipped with Deltabox chassis from Yamaha. This will be a huge update for both models and will further improve both motorcycles tremendously.
Both YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 by Yamaha will also be receiving significant design updates. The designers are likely to provide styling elements that will provide both models with a similar look to the flagship superbikes. Entire ‘R' series by Yamaha will follow a common design philosophy for 2017.
Once launched 2017 YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 will compete with Kawasaki Ninja 300, Honda CBR250RR, and Suzuki GSX-250R models. Though the KTM RC390 is not a direct rival, it is a worthy competitor in every market to all the sportbikes mentioned here.
