Yamaha Motors has imported a few units of the MT-125 streetfighter motorcycle to India. Currently, the model is offered only in the European markets where 125cc motorcycles are popular. It is unclear as to why the MT-125 has been imported into the Indian market.

The MT-125 streetfighter is most likely imported for research and development purposes. There is a possibility that other manufacturers could have also imported the model for benchmarking. Yamaha is not looking at launching the MT-125 in India as it would not be profitable.

Powering the MT-125 by Yamaha is a 124.7cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine will produce 14.79bhp, along with 12.4Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. Braking force will be provided by disc brakes to the front and rear wheel.

Yamaha India recently showcased the MT-09 streetfighter at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. There is a possibility that Yamaha could introduce the MT-15 or MT-03 model, which are naked versions of the YZF-R15 and YZF-R3 models.

The Japanese-based two-wheeler manufacturer is not looking at launching the MT-125 model in India. Yamaha could be planning on manufacturing the MT-125 motorcycle in India and exporting to several markets.
