Yamaha Might Not Launch The MT-03 Street Fighter In India Ever
The MT-03 by Yamaha is unlikely to be launched in the Indian market anytime soon. As of now, it is unclear why Yamaha is not launching the naked version of its YZF-R3 model in India.
Yamaha Motors India had previously confirmed to us that their goal was to introduce more mass market products. This meant that the Japanese-based manufacturer would refrain from launching several premium offerings.
There have been rumours that Yamaha was supposed to launch its MT-03 street fighter in India. Now, officials have confirmed that they have no plans on launching the Yamaha MT-03 anytime soon. So far, they are undecided on their launches for next year as well in the Indian market.
MT-03 shares several components with the YZF-R3 motorcycle. Both models share a 321cc inline two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 41.40bhp, along with 29.60Nm of peak torque, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
YZF-R3 by Yamaha is priced at Rs. 3.26 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi), which is slightly on the expensive side. The MT-03 would also be priced similarly and could make it an expensive street fighter. Pricing of these models are affected owing to their CBU (Completely Built Unit) status.
Currently, the Yamaha MT-03 model is on sale in several markets across the globe. The MT-03 draws a parallel design language to its older sibling the MT-09. If launched, Yamaha MT-03 will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke.
