Currently, Yamaha is offering only four imported models in the country. The range consists of the MT-09, YZF-R1, YZF-R1M, and V-Max models. Yamaha launched the MT-09 motorcycle at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, which now replaces the FZ1 model in India.

The FZ1 was powered by a 998cc four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. The engine produces 150bhp, along with 106Nm of peak torque output. Yamaha engineers paired the engine to a 6-speed slick gearbox. The FZ1 engine is the same engine that was powering the previous-gen YZF-R1.

The FZ1 by Yamaha was a slow-selling product in the Indian market. Replacing the FZ1 with the newly introduced MT-09 was a smart decision. Yamaha Motors India has priced the 2016 MT-09 model at an attractive price of Rs. 10.20 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).

Recently, Yamaha Motors India has discontinued several of its products silently. The Ray scooter and carbureted version of FZ and Fazer motorcycles were removed from the website. Yamaha is expected to introduce several new and exciting products soon in the country.
