Valentino Rossi & Yamaha Riders Dominate Misano FP1 Session
Valentino Rossi wants to win his 10th World Championship, his hunger to win is only growing. The Italian is back in his home race at San Marino, Misano GP. He has now laid down his intentions for this weekend by setting the fastest lap time during free practice one.
Rossi was down in ninth place with a few minutes remaining to end FP1. 'The Doctor' somehow pulled a bunny out of his hat and surprised everyone with phenomenal pace. Movistar Yamaha rider has set a lap time of one minute 33.451 seconds, with a top speed of 289 km/h.
Pol Espargaro was second best onboard his satellite Yamaha machinery. The Spaniard dominated majority of the session prior to losing his lead to Valentino Rossi. Yamaha has always looked strong at Misano GP, expect all Yamaha riders to dominate remaining practice sessions.
Silverstone GP winner, Maverick Vinales was third fastest with the Suzuki. Marc Marquez, on the other hand, was fourth fastest and the best Honda rider at Misano. Jorge Lorenzo managed to regain confidence and set fifth fastest lap time.
Andrea Iannone was involved in a horrific accident within the first ten minutes. He did not participate in the remainder of free practice session at Misano GP. Iannone has been taken to nearby hospital as doctors suspect micro-fractures in his vertebrae.
