UM Motorcycles Record 1,000 Bookings, Deliveries By June
UM Motorcycles launched its first two-wheelers for the Indian market at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Three cruiser motorcycles were introduced by the American-based two-wheeler manufacturer for India. Now UM Motorcycles through their Facebook have revealed that they have crossed over 1,000 bookings.
The Renegade Classic, Renegade Commando, and Renegade Sport S models were launched in India by UM Motorcycles. Deliveries by the two-wheeler manufacturer are expected to commence from June 2016. Roughly 25 dealerships have been currently setup by the manufacturer so far.
All three models from UM Motorcycles will be powered by a common engine. The cruiser bikes will make use of a 283cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Unfortunately, performance figures have still not been revealed by UM Motorcycles for either model.
UM Motorcycles has tied up with Lohia Auto for its India operations. All three motorcycles will be locally manufactured at the duo's facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The goal is to achieve an approximate sale of 3,000 units per month in the country.
In India UM Motorcycles range will compete against the likes of Royal Enfield, Mahindra Mojo, and even the Bajaj Avenger. Pricing is important and UM Motorcycles seems to have got that right with the base model priced at Rs. 1.49 lakh and top-end model priced at Rs. 1.69 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai).
