UM Motorcycles To Offer Bigger Engine Options In India Soon
UM Motorcycles recently conducted a press meet where they revealed a majority of their future plans. The American-based two-wheeler manufacturer plans on bringing to India bigger and higher displacement engines.
Bigger and higher displacement engines could use a V-Twin layout. UM Motorcycles could use the V-Twin engine layout for their cruiser motorcycles. The V-Twin engine layout will be used for engines over 400cc.
The American-based two-wheeler manufacturer also confirms that they plan to introduce engines between 200cc to 600cc. Engineers are also exploring options for a parallel twin engine for future motorcycles as well.
Currently, UM Motorcycles offers two cruiser motorcycles Renegade Sport S and Renegade Commando. Both models are powered by a 279.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 24.8bhp, along with 21.8Nm of peak torque output.
As of now, UM Motorcycles imports its engine in parts from China and Thailand, which is then assembled in India. Very soon they will attempt to completely localise and manufacture engines in the country. Currently, they work out of their facility in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, they plan to open one more manufacturing unit either in Pune or Hyderabad.
