TVS Teases Akula 310 On Twitter; Launch Imminent?
TVS showcased the Akula 310, a fully faired sports bike at the 2016 Auto Show in Delhi as a concept. The sports bike was an instant hit and now TVS has teased a picture of the Akula on Twitter.
The TVS Akula 310 boasts of aluminum trellis subframe, race tuned 4-valve DOHC liquid cooled 310cc engine. Also, seen are the Gill-vents for thermal efficiency and Ram Air induction all suggesting a full on sports bike from the makers of TVS.
TVS will power the Akula with 313cc, single cylinder liquid cooled petrol engine, which is taken from BMW Motorrad (which will also power the BMW G310R). The engine will punch out 34bhp and 28Nm of peak torque, which will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Also, the TVS Akula 310 will feature USD (upside down) front forks, rear mono shocks, dual channel ABS and a fully digital instrument meter.
TVS has named the sports bike as Akula which means Shark in Russian, which pays tribute to 33 years of TVS racing history.
The company will manufacture the Akula in its Hosur plant, Tamil Nadu and is expected to be cost effective. Akula 310 from TVS will rival the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3.
Does this mean TVS will launch the Akula 310 anytime soon? Well, we expect the sports bike to be launched by the end of 2016. Prices are expected to be in the range of Rs. 2 to 2.5 lakh ex-showroom.
