TVS Motor Company hints that a 310cc motorcycle is due for launch before this financial year, and the upcoming motorcycle is highly expected to be the Akula 310 we spotted testing on the roads recently.
The President and CEO, TVS Motor Company, K.N.Radhakrishnan said the company's turnaround this year would be around Rs 400 crore, and the primary goal will be to increase the sales volume, which would make the dealers profitable while bringing down the component costs.
"This fiscal year, we will launch our 310cc motorcycle. Before the end of this fiscal, we want to do some volumes," Radhakrishnan told the media on Tuesday.
When asked about how TVSs' 300cc motorcycle will do against Royal Enfields' 350cc range, Radhakrishnan replied, "We have thought through the issue. It will do well."
The new motorcycle and its 310cc engine were developed jointly with BMW Motorrad, and it will share the same platform as the new BMW G310R.
TVS Motor first showcased the 310cc Akula at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The prototype showcased there was a full-fledged racebike, displayed as an homage to TVS's racing heritage.
