Motorcycles have always been the means of commuting in India and contribute a major chunk of sales for the manufacturers. Motorcycles are also a majority contributor in the overall two-wheeler sales in the country.
Here are the top 10 selling motorcycles in India for the month of October 2016:
10. TVS Apache
TVS Motors' sport bike, the Apache series increased in sales with total sales of 35,230 units in October 2016 and was up by 38.14 percent compared to previous period. TVS has launched the new 200cc variant of the Apache and has sure made the number go up for the company.

9. Royal Enfield Classic 350
Royal Enfield continues to grow year on year with the sales of the Classic 350. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 held the ninth position in the top 10 best-selling motorcycles list for October 2016. The company sold 37,006 units for the month of October 2016 compared to 24,740 of the Classic 350 in October 2015.

8. Bajaj CT
The entry-level motorcycle from Bajaj slipped one place from 7th to 8th this October 2016. Bajaj sold 42,616 units compared to 56,652 units in September 2015. The Bajaj CT was overtaken by Bajaj Platina to the 7th spot.

7. Bajaj Platina
Bajaj Platina rose one place in the list of top 10 best-selling motorcycles for the month of October 2016 with sales of 50,531 units compared to 46,287 units in the month of September 2016. This is an impressive increase of 59.65 percent compared to October 2015.

6. Bajaj Pulsar
Bajaj Pulsar, the flagship brand for the company rounds of the list of bikes from Bajaj in the top 10 selling motorcycles for the October 2016. Despite the decrease in sales compared to September 2016, the Pulsar continues to hold to the 6th position. Bajaj sold 63,287 units of the Pulsar in October 2016, while it sold 68,007 units in September and witnessed a decline in sales by 10.38 percent compared to previous period.

5. Hero Glamour
Hero MotoCorp sold a lower number of the Glamour with unit sales of 75,320 in October 2016 compared to 80,742 units in October 2015.

4. Honda CB Shine
With Hero MotoCorp portfolio of bikes taking most of the places in the top 10 selling motorcycles in October 2016, Honda makes impressive sales of the CB Shine with 82,753 units. The CB Shine though declined in sales by 8.22 percent compared to the previous period with sales of 90,168 units.

3. Hero Passion
A strong contender, the Hero Passion still continues to provide the best of sales for Hero MotoCorp. With sales of 87,489 units for the month of October 2016, it took the podium in the top 3 selling motorcycles in India. There has been a decline in sales by 8.75 percent compared to previous year.

2. Hero HF Deluxe
The Hero HF Deluxe falls under the sales of more than 1 lakh for the month, Hero MotoCorp sold 1,33,986 units in October 2016 compared to 1,31,867 units in September 2016. The Hero Passion increased by 24.88 percent when compared to the same period last year.

1. Hero Splendor
The Hero Splendor needs no introduction, the best-selling motorcycle for Hero MotoCorp continues to impress its manufacturer time and again. Also, the Hero Splendor is the top selling two-wheeler for the month of October 2016 displacing Honda Activa which has been ruling for the last nine months.
Hero MotoCorp sold 2,54,813 units in October 2016 and increase of 7.71 percent compared to October 2015.

With the demonetization of certain currencies, it is to be seen if there will be any impact, especially in the 100cc segment as most of the sales come from rural areas. Industry experts believe there will be a certain decline in sales in this segment.
