Royal Enfield To Launch The Himalayan On 16 March
The Adventure Tourer from Royal Enfield will be launched on 16th March 2016 as per confirmation from carandbike.com.
There has been no confirmation on the price of the motorcycle, however, it's expected to be around Rs. 1.8 lakhs ex-showroom (Delhi). The bike will be powered by an all-new LS411cc engine which will churn out 24.5 bhp of power at 6,500 rpm with a torque of 32Nm at 4,500 rpm.
Some of the firsts of the Royal Enfield will be Overhead Cams instead of the push-rod architecture which is seen in all of its bikes. The bike will be on mono-shocks for the rear, which is a first for Royal Enfield bike. Also, the service interval of the bike will be at every 10,000 kms, giving more emphasis for the ease of maintenance.
The Adventure Tourer will sport large 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch wheel at the rear, and 220mm of ground clearance. All these specifications relate to an adventure tourer identity. Also, the front forks are two 41mm and longer suspension and the rear suspension at 180mm which helps in an off-road adventure.
The company will provide accessories as an add-on which includes hard case panniers to carry your luggage as well as soft saddlebags if you are not game for the metal panniers. Also, fuel canisters which will come across the fuel tank, the fuel tank capacity of 15 litres.
The motorcycle has been in development for the last four years and is developed by Harris Performance, which Royal Enfield acquired to help with its chassis and motorcycle designing.
