Rossi & Lorenzo Cannot Afford DNF At The 2016 German GP
MotoGP riders were on a two-week break from active competition. All riders will be returning for the 2016 German GP at the Sachsenring circuit. Factory Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have an uphill battle against themselves at the German GP.
Marc Marquez has never lost a Grand Prix around the Sachsenring track. Lorenzo and Rossi are down on points, as Marquez has a decent lead over his competition. Currently, Marquez has 145 points with Lorenzo close behind with 121 points, and Rossi is back down with 103 points.
Lorenzo and Rossi cannot afford another Did Not Finish (DNF). If Marquez wins the German GP, he would roughly have a lead where one DNF could be managed. This situation is sure to put Lorenzo and Rossi under pressure, while Marquez sits comfortably with his lead.
Valentino Rossi did not score any points at Assen even though he was leading the race. The conditions were tricky with rain hampering proceedings. Both Lorenzo and Marquez reduced risks and salvaged vital points, which Rossi missed out on.
Honda riders could find the Sachsenring a difficult track this time around owing to their aggressive engine and chassis. Yamaha has sorted out their engine and it should be an easy track for Rossi and Lorenzo to close the gap down to Championship leader Marquez.
