Nicky Hayden To Miss Winter WSBK Test Due To Knee Surgery
Nicky Hayden has undergone knee surgery successfully, which rules him out of 2016 winter testing. 2017 Honda WSBK race machine will have to be tested by Stefan Bradl alone during the winter.
Nicky Hayden had injured his knee while practising on his flat track motorcycle. The 'Kentucky Kid' did not have an accident, his foot got caught while riding and thus twisted his knee. Hayden injured his knee in between Aragon and Jerez private test sessions by Honda.
Hayden has undergone knee surgery and the doctors do not want him to ride a motorcycle until he is 100 percent fit. The surgery was successful, however, this means that Nicky Hayden will not be able to test his 2017 race machine during the winter testing.
Stefan Bradl will be charged with the sole responsibility to test Honda's WSBK race machine. Winter testing for 2016 comes to an end on December 21. Riders and teams will be allowed to test and develop their race machines directly in 2017.
For 2017, Ten Kate Honda will be receiving the all-new CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2. This will be the very first time this new Honda motorcycle will be competing. It will be interesting to see how Nicky Hayden and Stefan Bradl get along with each other in WSBK 2017 Championship.
