Rossi & Lorenzo Not Happy With Yamaha Performance At Sachsenring
The Sachsenring circuit has always been considered as a track that does not suit the Yamaha. In 2016, nothing seems to have changed all Yamaha MotoGP riders are facing difficulty with a common issue. Riders cannot seem to be confident with their front tyre, which is affecting speed.
Jorge Lorenzo has already crashed in free practice 1 and was seen nursing his left hand. Valentino Rossi was unable to extract any sort of competitiveness from his factory Yamaha. Both riders were confident that if they push their bikes anymore they would end up crashing.
Both Rossi and Lorenzo could only manage 14th and 16th fastest lap times around the Sachsenring circuit. Meanwhile, Pol Espargaro was the fastest Yamaha setting 11th fastest lap time. Bradley Smith was a bit slower securing 12th fastest lap just behind his teammate.
Yamaha riders are facing a deficit of over one and a half second. The bike is not superior on braking or mid-corner speed, which is usually Yamaha's speciality. Electronic package and low grip are considered a major cause of concern by Yamaha technicians.
Maverick Vinales put his Suzuki on top of the list in free practice 2. Ducati's Andrea Iannone was second fastest with Marc Marquez aboard his Honda was third fastest. It will be interesting to see how Yamaha riders and technicians improve their bike in the short span.
