MotoGP Malaysia: Vinales Tops FP3, Crutchlow Crashes
Last weekend’s winner Cal Crutchlow crashed out on his final hot lap at Turn 7.

claiming
the
top
spot
in
Free
Practice
3
(FP3).
Throughout
the
45-minute
session,
Maverick
and
Honda
rider
Marc
Marquez
sparred
over
the
top
spot.
Vinales was the only man who posted an under two-minute lap when he set a 1:59.947 on the first lap of his final run. Towards the end of the session, the young Spaniard set another under two-minute lap.
Yesterday, Marquez was diagnosed with gastroenteritis. He did over four stints and it was on the third stint that he posted his fastest lap. The newly crowned world champion was able to set a 2:00.032 lap while battling his illness.
Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi claimed the third spot and fourth spot respectively. Hector Barbera on his satellite Ducati bested Andrea Iannone on the works Ducati by 0.011s.
Maverick's teammate Aleix Espargaro claimed the seventh spot, while Andrea Dovizioso on his works Ducati completed the top eight. Pol Espargaro and Alvaro Bautista completed the session in ninth and tenth place.
Last weekend's winner Cal Crutchlow crashed out on his final hot lap at Turn 7. Now the Brit will have to come through Q1. He ended the session in 13th place and will be working hard to find the best setup in FP4.
