Marquez Dominates Aragon FP1; Rossi & Vinales Make Gains
MotoGP paddock has made their way to Motorland Aragon circuit. This is the first time all MotoGP riders got to ride the Michelin tyres at Aragon. For many Spanish riders, Aragon is like their home Grand Prix and would like to achieve their best result here.
Now after Free Practice (FP) one, Marc Marquez displayed why he is a force to be reckoned. The Spanish rider dominated FP1 at Aragon with a lap time of one minute 48.830 seconds. Marc Marquez set the fastest lap time on a hard rear tyre from Michelin.
2016 MotoGP Championship contender Valentino Rossi was second fastest. The Italian rider set his personal fastest lap just before the session could come to an end. Valentino Rossi was just 0.8 seconds off Marc Marquez's quick lap in FP1.
Maverick Vinales was third fastest and he too was extremely close to Marc Marquez's fastest lap. The Spanish rider is riding the Suzuki to the extreme. Vinales will be leaving Suzuki by 2016-end, however, he is still giving his best for the team that brought him into MotoGP.
Jorge Lorenzo seemed to struggle and could only set fifth fastest lap time. Factory Ducati riders Dovizioso and Iannone were fourth and sixth fastest respectively. It will be interesting to see if the riders can fine tune their machines further and make bigger improvements.
