Mahindra Two Wheeler Arm To Cut Workforce By 700
oi-Abijith Vilangil
Mahindra & Mahindra is going in for an overhaul, and it includes cost cutting, reducing manpower and focusing on premium scooters and lifestyle motorcycles.
Sources suggest that the strategy is to offer value-added products, including scooters from Peugeot, and the company may introduce a handful of new models by 2017.
The "cost optimisation" project includes a "material cost optimisation project" done by consultancy firm AT Kearney, said a Mahindra spokesperson.
"AT Kearney has worked with us for a year, and we have got tremendous benefits," added the spokesperson.
"Mojo's brand positioning has received good acceptance and in its segment, it is the only Indian brand apart from the market leaders. With a presence in 15 cities, we are already doing 200-250 units a month and the idea is to take it to 500 in the five-six months," said Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited.
