KTM's MotoGP Engine Will Be Its Strongest Point Amongst Others
The KTM MotoGP Team performed demo laps at the 2016 Austrian GP. Mika Kallio and Alex Hoffman rode the bikes around the circuit for its home town fans. Officials have confirmed that development of KTM's MotoGP project is on track for the 2016 season.
The very first race appearance of KTM in MotoGP will be at the Valencia GP. Mika Kallio will be seen riding the KTM MotoGP machine. KTM has christened its MotoGP bike as the 'RC16', which will be used to develop a street-legal superbike as well.
Mika Kallio now confirms that the KTM machine was excellent from its inception. The engine will be the strongest point amongst others. KTM will be using a V4 layout for its engine, similar to that used by Honda and Aprilia in the MotoGP competition.
At the recent MotoGP test at Austria, KTM was only two seconds off the pace. After fine tuning of certain parts, KTM engineers believe that the bike will be on par with the competition. Kallio claims that KTM has a strong base in the form of its engine and improving things around it is key.
