KTM & Mika Kallio Will Participate At Valencia GP As Wildcard Entrants
KTM MotoGP Racing Team have been developing their machine for a while now. The Austrian-based manufacturer will be entering MotoGP competition in the 2017 season. Now, KTM officials have confirmed that they would make a wildcard entry this year.
Mika Kallio will ride the KTM MotoGP race machine at the 2016 Valencia GP. It is the final round of MotoGP 2016 Championship and would provide the team with a race reference point. Several manufacturer's run wildcard entries at the last race to boost the morale of the development team.
Currently, KTM MotoGP Racing Team along with Mika Kallio are testing their race machine at the Austrian circuit. Other MotoGP teams are also present at this outing. It is one of the best opportunities for KTM to evaluate their machinery against their competitors.
Ducati has dominated the Austrian test, however, KTM was not far behind. The Austrian-based team was within two seconds of the fastest Ducati machine. Vinales onboard the Suzuki was only 1.6 seconds faster than the KTM RC16 machine.
The 2017 MotoGP Championship will see Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro riding for KTM. It will be interesting to see how the duo performs on the KTM machinery with their extensive MotoGP knowledge. KTM have their work cut out as the duo are current teammates with Monster Tech3 Yamaha team.
