Jorge Lorenzo rode the entire 2015 MotoGP Championship with helmets from HJC. There have been rumours that the duo planned on ending their partnership. HJC had a contract for three years and have terminated their contract with the double MotoGP Champion.
Lorenzo had several issues with HJC helmets during 2015 Championship. Two issues were noticeably highlighted by Lorenzo first in Qatar and the second at Silverstone. In Qatar, the helmet padding restricted his vision and in Silverstone, his helmet visor started misting up.
One of the reasons cited for the breakup between HJC and Jorge Lorenzo is a pay hike. With Lorenzo winning the Championship he was expecting a salary review, however, HJC was not prepared for it. Previously, HJC was paying Lorenzo 900,000 Euro for representing the brand.
Surprisingly, Jorge Lorenzo has turned to Shark helmets for the upcoming season. Several rumours have been doing the rounds that brands have been dropping Jorge Lorenzo as ambassador. The way Lorenzo won the title was filled with speculative conspiracy, which has tainted his image. We can expect Lorenzo with his new helmet at January's pre-season testing.
