2016 Intermot Motorcycle Show: Yamaha Reveals Updated 2017 MT-09
Since its premiere in 2015, the MT-09 has gathered a broad consensus among fans and has become one of Yamaha's best-selling motorcycle. At 2016 Intermot Motor Show an updated version of MT-09 has been revealed.
For 2017, Yamaha's engineers have further improved the look and increased the potential. The new MT-09 shows a more dynamic and aggressive look, characterized by new faria LED.
Influenced by MT10, the front now includes a dual light LED design that emphasizes the muscular image of the model and gives it lightness and compactness.
The side lights are located under the two front headlights, while the two aerodynamic fairings follow the profile of the front optical group. While the direction indicators have been relocated to the radiator.
One of the major technical amendments made is the new slipper clutch with optimized stiffness which improves acceleration and makes it easy to control in the most aggressive downshifting. The load to the lever was reduced by 20%. The new MT-09 is also equipped with Quick Shift System (QSS, has the same design as that of R1), which allows engaging the gears without using the clutch.
The new MT09 also has some upgrades to the suspension - the upside-down fork has a new adjustment of the compression in the left fork leg, while the adjustment of the extension is placed in the right leg.
The MT-09 is powered by 850 cc three-cylinder engine, with forged pistons. Thanks to some changes, the engine is now compliant with Euro 4 norms.
Genuine Yamaha accessories will be available for this new MT-09 in 2017, in the meantime, all the owners, present and future, can have fun building the MT of their dreams via the app My Garage.
The new MT-09 will be available in the following colours: Fluo Night, Race Blue, and Black Tech. For now, Yamaha has not yet revealed the price of this motorcycle.
