Honda Motorcycle & Scooter Tapukara Employees End 52-Day Protest
After 52-days of protesting former Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India employees at Tapukara facility have called off their hunger strike.
Employees at the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan were on an indefinite hunger strike. On day 52 of their protest, they have ended their hunger strike against their employer. The strike by agitated workers was called off on November 9, 2016.
The protest began on September 19, 2016, and has now ended at the Tapukara facility. Over hundred workers were terminated from their service by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. Protests were held at Jantar Mantar in the capital city of India.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India terminated service of several employees owing to indiscipline. The employees believe that they were terminated as the employer did not want a formation of a Union. All terminated employees want their services to be reinstated.
Currently, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is the second largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. Production of Honda scooters and motorcycles has been affected owing to the protests. Now, the strike has ended and soon will be commencing in Rajasthan once again.
