Honda To Boost Scooter Sales In Rural Market
Scooter may be only preferred by urban commuters, but scooter segment leader Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India(HMSI) is planning a new strategy to boost scooter sales in rural market ahead of festive season.
Honda has increased the production of scooters to cope with increase in demand in rural markets, thanks to a good monsoon. Honda is focusing on increase in production, and this can be achieved because of new manufacturing facility in Sanand. Honda has also expanded its retail network by opening 2,000 outlets in last three years.
The ramp-up in scooter production means that scooters will have a major share in Honda's sales in the country. Honda is expecting a rise of more than 20 percent in demand during the festive season and the first ten months of the calendar.
HMSI, Senior VP Sales and Marketing, YS Guleria said that the demand for scooter in rural has increased in recent years, Honda will see a 20 percent growth in scooter sales in this coming festive season.
