Hero To Launch 200cc Naked Bike Before Next Auto Expo
Indian bike manufacturer Hero MotoCorp plans to launch a naked motorcycle around the 200cc range before the next Auto Expo in 2018.
The bike could very well be the Extreme 200S that was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo.
In an interview with Overdrive at the launch of the new Splendor iSmart 110, Malo Le Masson, Head, Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp was asked about the possibility of larger capacity bikes from Hero. Le Masson replied, "We will probably come with a product around 200cc within the, let's say, sport naked segment before the next Auto Expo."
The Extreme 200S seen at the Auto Expo was powered by a liquid-cooled, single cylinder, 200cc engine that produces18.5bhp @ 8500rpm and 17.2Nm of torque @ 6000rpm. The engines is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Extreme 200S bike also featured air vents on the front cowl, fuel tank and the belly pan to help keep the engine cool.
The Extreme 200S also sported telescopic front forks and a mono-shock at the rear as well as disc brakes on both wheels.
The Extreme 200S is expected to take on the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar, KTM Duke 200 and the TVS Apache 200 4V when it finally hits Indian roads.
