Hero MotoCorp Chittoor Facility Operational By December 2018
Hero MotoCorp has confirmed that its upcoming Chittoor facility will be fully operational by December 2018. The facility is located at Sri City Special Economic Zone in Madannapalem of Chittoor district. An MoU between Andhra Pradesh Government and Hero MotoCorp was signed in September 2014.
The Chittoor facility is being developed on an investment of Rs. 800 crore. Hero MotoCorp's new facility is expected to have an initial production capacity of five lakh units per year. Initially, 1,500 locals will be employed followed by 3,500 more individuals at a later stage.
Over 2,000 people will be employed through supply chain partners for the Chittoor facility. By the final stage over 6,500 individuals will receive employment through supply chain partnership.
With the Chittoor facility, Hero MotoCorp plans to enter several other categories. The new facility will be used to manufacture electric vehicles, three-wheelers, defence technology, aerospace, and several other projects will be accommodated through joint ventures.
At the 2016 Auto Expo, which was held in Delhi, Hero MotoCorp showcased several of its upcoming products. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is transitioning into a younger brand and new products will boost their sales. New facilities by Hero MotoCorp will aid in catering to the growing demands.
