Hero Shows-Off Its Dakar Contingent In India
Indian two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has kickstarted its Dakar Rally campaign today. The event was held at Hero's Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. The team comprises of India's top rallyist C.S Santosh and Portuguese rider Joaquim Rodrigues.
Dakar Rally is the world's toughest cross-country rally which will be held in January next year. Covering a distance of 9000kms across South America. Hero has partnered with German off-road expert Speedbrain GmbH, and will be using Speedbrain 450 Rally motorcycles for their campaign.
On this occasion, Hero showcased its combination of man and machine on a specially designed off-road dirt track at CIT. India's first ever Dakar Rally rider CS Santosh said, "We are absolutely proud to carry the tricolour of India to the Dakar Rally 2017".
He added, "This year will be a completely different experience for me, as I am going to participate as a member of a world -class factory team." Hero MotorSports Team Rally has already competed in Afriquia Merzouga Rally were the pair of Rodrigues and Santosh finished in ninth and 16th respectively.
Speaking on the event CTO, Hero MotoCorp, Markus Braunsperger said, "We at Hero, are aggressively working towards elevating our product-development capabilities to global standards, and our presence at the international racing circuit gives us an opportunity to further refine our vehicle concepts."
