Harley-Davidson Completes Six Successful Years In India
Harley-Davidson set foot in India in 2010 and has continued to dominate the segment for six years.
Harley-Davidson India is celebrating its sixth successful year in the country since it commenced retail operations in 2010. The company holds nearly 60 percent market share of the 601+cc motorcycle segment and leads the premium motorcycle segment in the country.
The company remains focused in line with its strategic objectives on bringing new riders into the sport of motorcycling while broadening brand appeal through an expansion strategy, quality motorcycles, and key initiatives.
Key initiatives of Harley-Davidson in India include Legend on Tour, Passport to Freedom, Harley Rock Riders and Discover More campaign.
Vikram Pawah, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India said that in 2016 they created powerful connections with new riders and strengthened their bond with their existing riders through customer-led outreach.
He further added that they are confident that their focused strategy, passion for their brand and progress on key initiatives make them strong and well positioned for India's dynamic market.
They are looking to take the momentum forward into the years to come with the current 24 outlets in 21 cities and 60 percent market share.
On the expansion front, in 2016, the company broadened its reach through new Harley-Davidson dealerships in Coimbatore, Lucknow, Calicut, Guwahati and Ludhiana.
Harley-Davidson also launched its first merchandise collections at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. The second dealership in Delhi and first ever in Dehradun offer the latest line-up of 13 motorcycles by Harley-Davidson India.
On the customer-led initiative front, the company's first-of-its-kind mobile dealership, Legend on Tour, increased accessibility for motorcycle enthusiasts across the country. Passport to Freedom is a program encouraging confident riding where is helps in introducing new riders to techniques that will eventually help them become strong riders.
Harley Rock Riders, the company's annual motorcycle and music festival added to the brand in its tour across New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur and Jaipur.
Also, in 2016, Harley-Davidson India launched the Harley-Davidson Financial Services Program offering customised financing solutions for ridersto finance their motorcycle, the only manufacturer to offer customised finance solutions for its customers in the premium motorcycle segment in India.
Harley-Davidson in India has 36 Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) chapters with more than 7,000 H.O.G members. The company offers H.O.G assist - an on road assistance programme that provides support to members, irrespective of their location and distance from the nearest dealership.
In India, Harley-Davidson offers avaried range of motorcycles which include Street 750, Iron 883, 1200 Custom, Forty-Eight, Roadster, Street Bob, Fat Bob, Fat Boy, Heritage Softail Classic, Road King, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, and CVO Limited.
