Ducati 959 Panigale Scythes Into India; Priced At Rs 14.04 Lakh
Ducati has launched the unhinged 959 Panigale at the 2016 India Bike Week in Goa. The new 959 Panigale is priced at Rs 14.04 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
Engine & Gearbox Specifications
- Engine Type: Liquid cooled L-twin with 4 valves per cylinder
- Engine Capacity : 955cc
- Power: 157bhp@ 10,500rpm
- Torque: 107.4Nm@ 9,000rpm
The 959 Panigale sends its power to the the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox with quick shift.
Suspension & Brakes
The 959 Panigale features fully adjustable telescopic front forks from Showa up front with 120mm travel and a Sachs monoshock at the rear with 130mm travel.
To bring the 959 Panigale to a stop, Ducati has fitted twin 320mm semi-floating disc brakes with 4 piston calipers and the rear features a single 245mm disc brake with two pistons at the rear. The brakes are helped along by the ABS system from Bosch.
The front wheel is a 17-inch, 10 spoke alloy and is fitted with a 120/70 Pirelli Rosso Corsa tyre while the rear wheel is also a 17-inch alloy wheel and is fitted with a 130/80 Pirelli Rosso Corsa tyre as well.
Design
The Ducati 959 Panigale features a wider and more protective front fairing as well as a taller and windscreen compared to the 899 Panigale that it replaces.
However, the brilliant underseat exhausts from the 899 have made way for a rather ugly set of exhausts which spoil the look of the bike.
Availability & Rivals
The Ducati 959 will be launched later this year and will go up against the Yamaha YZF-R1, the Honda CBR1000RR and Suzuki GSXR1000.
