Dakar 2016: CS Santosh & Stage 4 Updates
The stage 4 of Dakar Rally 2016 has concluded with a bit of bad news as CS Santosh has been forced to sign off Dakar. The Bangalore rider astride a Suzuki 450 RMZ managed to finish stage 4 in the 127th position, dropping his overall standings down to 116.
The reason was because of a broken navigation tower and electrical issues. This made him lose his position from stage 3 and drop down the ranking sheet. The Bangalore rider rode almost 300km without navigation.
There is more bad news as Husqvarna rider, Pela Renet suffered head injuries after a crash towards the end of the special section.
In the motorcycle category, Stage 4 was won by Paulo Goncalves astride a HRC, followed by Kevin Benavides astride a Honda again. The quad category was won by Alexis Hernandez, followed by Marcos Patronelli.
In the cars category, stage 4 win was taken by Stephane Peterhansel and nine time WRC champion Leab managed to finish third. Gerard De Rooy took victory in the Truck category in the forth stage.
