Dakar Rally 2017: CS Santosh And Aravind KP Are Ready For The Challenge
The 2017 Dakar Rally is here and our Indian champs CS Santosh and Aravind KP are ready for the challenge.
The Dakar rally is the toughest off-road motorsport event on the planet. The rally span across three countries and the crews will cover around 9,000kms. The rally commences from 2nd January, 2017 and will conclude on 14th January 2017.
The rally will kick start in Paraguay and the competitors will then enter Bolivia, the rally will reach its climax in the capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires. The rally comprises of five class - motorcycles, quad, car, UTV and truck.
Flying the Indian flag on the world's toughest rally are the motorcycle riders CS Santosh and Aravind KP. Santosh will be riding a 450 Rally Hero Speedbrain, whereas Aravind will make his Dakar debut on a RTR 450 Sherco TVS.
This will be the third Dakar Rally for the Bengaluru-based rally rider Santosh. On his debut in 2015, Santosh finished in an impressive 36th position riding a 450 Rally KTM.
In 2016, Santosh teamed up with Suzuki Spain and was riding a 450 RMZ Suzuki. But unfortunately he had to retire after four stages with his motorcycle suffering technical issues.
But Santosh feels that he is better prepared for 2017 iteration of the Dakar Rally. Santosh has teamed up with factory rally team Hero in a joint venture with German off-road expert Speedbrain.
The second Indian rider to make his Dakar debut is another Bengaluru-based rider Aravind. He has an impressive 17 national titles under his belt. Aravind will be riding for TVS Sherco team and he has already competed in Baja Aragon and Morocco Rally riding an RTR 450 Sherco TVS.in a bid to enter Dakar 2017.
For Aravind this Dakar is all about the experience, the primary goal is to finish the rally in one piece. Aravind feels confident enough to finish the toughest rally with all the training behind him.
